Purpose: Local government staff eCourts accounts can be created to electronically file using the non-party filing functionality available on the eFiling website. This article describes how to create a local government eCourts account to non-party file cases and documents.
Applicable Users: Social workers, case workers, and intake workers
Creating a social worker eCourts account
- Visit the eCourts website: https://logon.wicourts.gov/.
- Select the Create an account link.
- Select the Local government staff user type. Then, select [Next].
- The account type selected is visible beneath the Account type header. If you chose the wrong account type, select [Change account type] to return to the previous step and choose a new one.
- Enter a Primary email address at which to receive email notifications about your eFiled cases. Then, select [Send one-time code] to verify the address.
- An email including a one-time verification code is sent to the Primary email address entered previously. As stated in the email, the one-time code is valid for 10 minutes.
- Enter the code and select [Verify].
Following entry of the one-time code, verification is confirmed.
Note: If need be, a new one-time code can be requested 60 seconds after the initial code was sent by selecting [Resend one-time code].
Note: The address provided is saved as your default address for all Wisconsin circuit courts. - You must enter and verify at least one recovery option to which account information can be sent should you need to recover your username or password, and you no longer have access to your primary email address. Enter a Recovery email and/or Recovery mobile phone and select [Send one-time code] to verify them. Repeat the verification process described above.
- Enter a username for your account. eCourts account usernames must meet the following criteria:
- Contains only letters, numbers, or hyphens
- Has a length of 5 - 32 characters
- Enter a password for your account. eCourts account passwords must meet the following criteria:
- At least 12 characters
- At least one lowercase letter
- At least one uppercase letter
- At least one number
- At least one special character such as:@#$%^?,.-
- Username cannot be part of password

Confirm the password you entered.
- Enter your name and signature (for signing electronically). First name, last name, and My signature fields are required.
- Important: As the account type selected is Local government staff, there is an additional Yes/No toggle titled, Are you an intake worker, social worker, or case worker serving children or juveniles in Chapter 48 or 938 cases? If you are a social worker, ensure this toggle is set to Yes. Social worker accounts can access both the non-party case filing and non-party document filing applications. - Select [Create account].
- Following account creation, you will transition to the eCourts Log in page. Enter your eCourts username and select [Continue].
Note: A New user registration email including your eCourts account username is sent to the primary email address entered during account creation. You can also use the link provided in that email to log into the eCourts website. - Enter the password set during account creation. Select [Log in].
Note: Select the checkbox to the left of 'Remember me...' if you are on a trusted device and wish to bypass entry of a one-time passcode for subsequent log-ins from this device for the next 7 days. - Select your preferred option from the One-time code destination list to send a one-time verification code to. Then, select [Send].
- Retrieve the one-time verification code received at the email address or mobile number selected previously.
- Enter the one-time code and select [Verify].
- You are redirected to a page confirming login and account verification. Select Circuit court eFiling from the list of available applications to navigate to the Circuit court eFiling website.
