Purpose: Local government staff eCourts accounts can be created to electronically file using the non-party filing functionality available on the eFiling website. This article describes how to create a local government eCourts account to non-party file cases and documents.
Applicable Users: Social workers, case workers, and intake workers
Creating a social worker eCourts account
- Visit the eFiling website: http://efiling.wicourts.gov.
- Select the Create an account link.
- Select the Local government staff user type. Then, select [Next].
- Complete the required fields (displayed in bold). Be sure to select the Are you a social worker? checkbox. When finished, select [Next].
- Enter an email address or mobile phone number (or both) to send account information to in the event you need to recover your user name or password and you no longer have access to your primary email address. To proceed, select [Next].
- To enable independent recovery of your account in the future, you must select and answer three security questions. Choose from the available options and select [Next].
- Provide answers to the security questions selected. Responses are not case-sensitive. To complete eCourts account setup, select [Create account].
- Upon successful account creation, the eCourts system sends a confirmation email to the email address entered during the registration process. This email contains your user name and PIN. Save or record this information for future use.
- To activate your eCourts account, you can either:
- Select the eCourts link provided in the New user registration email.
- Or, if the confirmation page is still open from the registration process, select the activate your account link on that page.
- Select the eCourts link provided in the New user registration email.
- Enter your User name and Password. Then, select [Log in].
- Enter the PIN provided in the confirmation email, and select [Continue].
- You are then redirected to a page confirming activation of your eCourts account.
Check that your eCourts account is set up as an intake worker, social worker, or case worker
This section walks you through checking if your account is setup as an intake worker, social worker, or case worker serving children or juveniles in Chapter 48 or 938 cases.
- Visit the eFiling website at https://efiling.wicourts.gov/. Enter your eFiling User name and Password and select [Log in]. For more information, see the article Logging into an existing eCourts account.
- Hover your mouse over your name at the top-right corner of the screen. Select preferences from the dropdown menu that appears.
- Select Update eCourts account information.
- In the User information section, Social worker account information should say yes. If it does not indicate that you are set up as a social worker, select Update user information.
- Set the toggle to Are you a social worker? toggle to Yes and select [Save].
