Purpose: Attorneys can delegate access to staff to perform actions on the attorney's behalf in the appellate eFiling website. The delegation feature allows staff to create their own eCourts account with the eFiling system and eliminates the need for attorneys to share login credentials. Users with an eCourts account type of "Paralegal or Legal Secretary" can be delegated access to an attorney's account.
Audience: Wisconsin appellate court attorneys
- Visit the appellate eFiling website at https://sccaefiling.wicourts.gov/ and log in. For more information, see the article Logging into Wisconsin appellate court eFiling.
- After logging in, you are routed to the Wisconsin appellate court eFiling home page. Select your name in the top-right corner of the webpage, then select Delegations.
- The Delegations page displays. To delegate access to a user, select the [Create] button.
- On the Add delegate screen, enter the email address of the staff member you are delegating access to. This email address must be the address that the staff member used when they registered for an eCourts account. Select [Find] to locate the user.
Note: Staff members should create an eCourts account with the Paralegal or legal secretary account type. For instruction on creating the account, see the article here: Creating a file prep eCourts account. - The Matching user's name field indicates the name of the person associated with the email address, to confirm this is the user you want to delegate access to. Select the delegation level from the Access type section, then select [Save] to create the delegation.
- File preparation allows the delegated user to prepare new filings. The user will not be able to submit the filings to the court; they will only be able to submit them to your Ready to file queue for you to submit to the court.
- Full account access allows the delegated user to perform the same actions as an attorney (including submitting filings to the court) on the attorney's behalf.
- The Delegations page allows you to manage the access you have granted to users. The table on this page shows the user's name, the access type they have, and a description of the access type. The Actions column allows further management of the delegations:
- Update access type allows the attorney to edit the access type on an existing delegation.
- Delete removes the delegation from the staff member entirely.
