Summary
The summary section displays basic information about the appeal:
- Short caption: An abbreviation of the long caption.
- Long caption: The official caption for an appeal, which must appear on all briefs, motions, and petitions.
- Case status: The case status of an appeal indicates whether the matter is Open (OP), Closed (CL), Pending Remit (PR), Pending Petition for Review (RE), Remanded (RM), or Reopened (RO).
- Class code: Designates the type of case, or class code, on appeal (e.g. criminal-felony, criminal-misdemeanor, etc).
- Court type: Indicates where the appeal is being heard: 'SC' for the Supreme Court and 'CA' for the Court of Appeals.
- Filing district/Current district: If judges from one district have been assigned to an appeal from another district, both the district where the appeal began (Filing District) and the district whose judges are assigned to decide the appeal (Current district) are displayed.
- Panel: Indicates how many judges will decide an appeal (1 or 3).
- County: Displays the county where the Circuit Court case originated.
- Disposition (if any): The decision of the court.
- Disposition date: The date of the court decision.

Understanding Pre-Appeal (XX) Case Numbers
- Motions filed with the Court of Appeals before the initiation of an appeal (e.g., a motion for extension of time) are not given a standard Appeal (AP) case number. They are given an XX number, such as 2025XX000153.
- The year in an XX number represents the calendar year in which the first pre-appeal motion was filed.
- A pre-appeal motion will have a status of Open (OP) if there is a pending motion and Closed (CL) if there is no pending motion.
