Purpose: This guide explains how attorneys and sponsors submit the CLE Form 2 online. Use this process to request approval from the Board of Bar Examiners (BBE) for a Continuing Legal Education (CLE) activity.
Applicable Users: Attorneys and CLE sponsors
Log in to the CLE Course Approval Request website
- Navigate to the CLE Course Approval Request website at https://cle.wicourts.gov.
- Enter your eCourts Username and select [Continue].
- Enter your eCourts Password and select [Log in].
Note: Select the checkbox to the left of 'Remember me...' if you are on a trusted device and wish to bypass entry of a one-time passcode for subsequent logins from this device for the next 7 days. - Select your preferred delivery option from the One-time code destination list. Then, select [Send]
- Retrieve the one-time verification code received at the email address or mobile number selected previously.
- Enter the one-time code and select [Verify].
- Following verification, the CLE Course Approval Request website loads.
Create a new course approval request
- On the the CLE Course Approval Request website, select [Submit New].
- Start typing a name to find the sponsor for which you are submitting the course approval request. Type out the full name instead of an acronym. The menu will begin to display matching results. Select the appropriate result.
- If the sponsor is not listed, select New. Complete the address and phone number fields for the new sponsor.
- For an existing sponsor, select an address from the dropdown list. To add an address that is not on file, select Add new address.
- If a phone number is not on file for the selected address, the system prompts you to enter one.
- Enter the primary email address for correspondence.
- To add a co-sponsor, select an existing sponsor or enter a new one.
- Enter the course Title, Activity date, and End date. If the course is on-demand, select the On-demand checkbox and enter the Date of live program and Start date of on-demand program (the date the program is posted for asynchronous viewing).
Note: To enter today's date in any date field, type 'd' in the field. - If the faculty was in the room with participants, select the Faculty in room with participants checkbox. Enter the city and state where the event occurred.
- Select Advertised to (target audience). If you select Others, specify the audience in the text box.
- Enter the number of attendees. For future courses, provide an estimate.

Select [Add attachment] to upload required documents. Give each attachment a name, then click [Upload attachment] to browse for and select the file from your computer. You can add multiple documents.
Please include the following:
- a timed agenda
- course materials
- faculty name and credentials
Note: If you are requesting specific credit hours, such as Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility (EPR) hours, indicate in the timed agenda which part of the agenda corresponds to the credit hours. - In the Total minutes field, enter the total instruction time. Enter the minutes that apply to specific credit types, like EPR. Enter 0 for any categories that do not apply.
Note: You may not submit a request for EPR minutes for a duration of less than 50 minutes or for an on-demand course. - Your eCourts account information automatically populates the Submitted by section. If you are an Employee of sponsor, select the checkbox and enter your Title.
- Select [Preview] to review the BBE CLE Form 2. Select [Submit] to send the request to BBE. The request appears on your dashboard with a status of Submitted.
- The request status on your dashboard updates after BBE reviews it.
- To see the decision, select [View documents]. This opens the CLE Form 2, which includes the Notice of Decision.
Submit further documentation
- If BBE requires more information, the request status changes to Pending Review - Documents Required. The Upload additional documents link appears in the Actions column.
- On the Upload Additional Documents page, select [Add attachment] to add files. When you are finished, select [Submit].
- After you submit the documents, the request status changes to Submitted.
