Purpose: On the eFiling website, if a self-represented party (pro se) is opted into their case, their attorney cannot opt into the case to participate in eFiling. If you are a self-represented party and want to opt out of your case in order for your attorney to opt in, follow the steps below.

Steps to opt out as a self-represented party

1. Visit the Wisconsin appellate court eFiling website at https://acefiling.wicourts.gov/ and log in. For more information see the article Logging into Wisconsin appellate court eFiling.
2. Select the my cases menu option or the My cases hyperlink.
   
    
3. On the My cases screen, find the case and select Opt out as an electronic party.
4. Review the case information and select [Opt out].
   
    
5. On the Ready to file page, check the checkbox next to the opt out request and select
   the [File] button.
   
    
6. The Filings submitted page lets you know that your filing(s) has been submitted successfully.
   
    
7. After the opt out request has been electronically transmitted to the Clerk of the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, the request will be automatically processed by the Supreme Court/Court of Appeals software. Upon successful opt out, you will receive an email notifying you that you are no longer an electronic notice (eNotice) party on the case. You will no longer be able to access electronic and eFile documents on the case.
